Maybe...

Maybe Jack was one of those people who were either sexually abused/restricted by someone when they were young, and grown to hate sex. He might have thought that, when he was older, that the prostitutes who were engaging in it outside of marriage *or to his tastes* too much, deserved to die.

This is my random take on the idea.

They say his mother might have sexually abused him or she was with a lot of men during his upbringing. Either that or he might have had some sort of sexual dysfunctuon, but personally, I think he ended up with a negative reaction to sex.

In the case of Kosminski (I loves him...) although his childhood is unclear, his village was attacked by the Russians when he was 15 and they raped and brutally murdered loads of women and children there, and there is a possiblilty that his mum and older sisters might have been raped in front of him. Obviously, this would have been quite disturbing for someone about our age!

Yes, it very much would've. I find that I think that I can handle high levels of stress, only to have it give me more anxiety later.

Yeah, I think the same way. At first I thought, well at least he wasn't raped (but for all we know, he might have been ) But I think having something like that happen to you, it definately has some lasting effect on you and in those days they wouldn't have had councelling, so he would have had to cope with it all by himself. I think seeing the prostitutes have sex with all these different men all the time might have rewoken feelings inside him going back to his childhood and he would have found this disturbing. Of course, we cannot go into Jack's head, but we can work out roughly what might have gone wrong for him, since I don't think he was evil like they class him in films and I very much feel sorry for him.

I rather dont think he was so much evil, but very...*thinks how I would feel if doing what Jack did* angry. Yes, angry and viscious. Maybe he was acting on a pure instinct of some sort?

I think he was very angry too! I wouldn't call him evil at all! Very much what you thought - I think he was definately acting on the spur of the moment and all that anger came out in his vicious stabs and mutilations. He probably had a way to turn on 'Jack' and then could revert back to his 'insert name here' after, since he didn't get carried away with it since he could walk away unnoticed and he managed to pick them up fine. If he had looked like the sort the Ripper was being protrayed as, the prostitutes probably wouldn't have gone with him, although from what I believe, they were drunk out of their minds! xDDDD

He could have been - (my aunt's got bi-polar too) but he was more likely to have schizophrenia which attacks you in bursts, although none of that can be ruled out of course! also - I think a reason why he stopped was because he got burnt out and was reduced to a wreck, a shadow of his former self. It's quite sad really that they had no medicine in those days.

He might have been fed up with the whole thing. After a show like Kelly, he might have lost creativity.

Schizophrenia? Is that like my Schizoid personality disorder? (or does noone want to hear about that? )

Yeah - I mean, what more could you do to a human body? It was quite horrific really - I was watching the documentary that only british people can see (sorry) and I never realised it until now, but the thigh bones are showing!

OO well...Jack likes to put on quite a show...I wonder if he enjoyed the publicity he was getting.

I think he did. That's why he was leaving the bodies out for show because of the public effect, and it must have made him feel good. Also, serial killers like talking about their kills discretely so all the public disgust might have made him feel smug about himself.

That also have been why he got bolder with each kill.

There's something I read about somebody in the market being approached by a man who matched the descriptions of the Ripper just after the last murder, and he said something like, "Did you hear about the murder last night?" And the man at the market stall said yes. And then the other man replied, "I know more about it than you think." And he walked off grinning madly. I thought that claim was quite interesting! I'm placing my bets that that was Jack the Ripper if the story is true!
And I think that he became bolder too. Certainly evolving as time went on. I think he was getting more vicious with the mutilations also because he needed to get the same kick out of it as last time, and when he was interrupted on the night of the double murder he felt so angry that he had not got down the the mutilations (the most importnat bit) that he had to kill again that night.

That might be a claim though....people will do just about anything for publicity these days, it seems...

But it WOULD be cool if that was true! ^^

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I remember reading it quite a few times before, but I need to find it again. I do hope it's true, but knowing how hungry the press were for new stories to sell the papers and all their 'pin the tail on Jack' stuff, it wouldn't be surprising if the person on the market stall just made it all up.
